Barron River, Mulgrave River, Russel River, Trinity Inlet Basin, & Northern Beaches
The Cairns River Improvement Trust (formally the Mulgrave Shire River Improvement Trust) was constituted in 1972 under the River Improvement Trust Act 1940.
The Trust’s area of operation is the Cairns Local Government Area. The area has three major river systems and two other drainage basins, all of which discharge directly into the Coral Sea.
