Don River, Euri Creek

The Trust’s area of operation is the old Bowen Shire Council area.  Namely the area on the northern side of Granite Creek to the south and just north of Merinda to the North. The area has one major river system and a creek both of which discharge directly into the Coral Sea.

The Trust’s main objective is the continuation of flood mitigation for the wellbeing of both urban and rural communities. The Trust continues to protect and improve the condition of the river by ongoing flood damage repair and preventative works to protect State and Local Government and rural industry infrastructure. Since its inception the Trust has constructed and improved works along the lower reaches of the Don River where damage during flood events has been significant.
